This session addresses leadership and management competencies in healthcare administration followed by a panel of senior pharmacy leaders who will share their leadership pearls to equip current and prospective department chiefs for success.

This session will form the foundation of what must be the minimum required focal points in department chief roles, which can then be modified with individual and unit-level preferences or mission priorities. The content of this session and feedback from participants will be used to formulate Part 2 of the Chief Effect initiative, which will be distributed in the form of a publication for continued and long lasting reference for Army officers in the years to come.

Learning Objectives:

Describe healthcare administration competencies and tools to support leadership efficacy and efficiency in governance, strategic planning, management and leadership, healthcare trends, regulations, finance, human resources, and quality
List different approaches and strategies used by senior pharmacy officers currently leading medical center pharmacies
Develop a personal leadership vision to maximize leadership potential as the primary representative of the pharmacy department.
