Brenda S LaDue, PharmD, MBA, VHA Associate Chief Consultant, Pharmacy Benefits Management - Clinical Informatics, National EHR Pharmacy Co-Chair
Dr. LaDue is an integral leader within PBM, Clinical Informatics team with the Department of Veterans Affairs. She currently serves at the Associate Chief Consultant for the VHA Pharmacy VISN and VAMCs Informatics Pillar and for EHR Preparedness, Readiness and Response (PR2) and serves as one of the two Co-Chairs of the National Clinical Pharmacy Council for the EHRM.
Brenda holds a PharmD degree from Idaho State University, where she was a past faculty member, and has completed a Masters of Business Administration from George Fox University. Brenda has completed the Barton modules for Risk Management and has served as a panel member for medical malpractice Pre-litigation hearings within Idaho. Brenda is also completing a certificate program in Pharmacogenomics from Manchester University.
Her primary mission within PBM-CI includes:
- PBM Domain Steward and delegate for VHA Pharmacy VISN and VAMC Informatics
- Coordinates with the VHA EHR Pharmacy Operations Pillar to prepare sites for deployment of the new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Liaison to VISN Pharmacy Executives as related Medical Centers prepare to deploy the EHR
- Operates the Preparedness, Readiness, and Response Program which
- Assesses resource and infrastructure requirements of sites preparing for EHR implementation
- Mitigates issues and concerns arising after EHR implementation
- Responds to requests for information and support on issues involving the Electronic Health Record
- Leads identification and development of new technologies, policies, and business practices and works with related VA program offices to obtain development approval
