COL Aatif M. Sheikh received his PharmD from the University of Maryland with his first assignment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) as the Chief, Outpatient Pharmacy in 1998. He has also served as Chief Ancillary Services Soto Cano Airbase, Chief Pharmacy Informatics WRAMC, Chief Pharmacy Fort Meade, Support Operations Officer 16th MLB, Chief Pharmacy Fort Leonardwood, Assistant Chief Pharmacy WRAMC, Deputy Director for Administration WRNMMC, Chief Pharmacy and Deputy Commander for Patient Services (DCPS) Fort Carson, DCPS Tripler Army Medical Center. COL Sheikh is now serving as Director, Pharmacy Readiness Program and the Chief, Allied Clinical Services. In September of 2020, he was appointed as the Pharmacy Consultant (67E) to the Army Surgeon General.
COL Sheikh completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY-1) , a Masters in Health Care Administration and MBA with a follow-on administrative residency, the RAND Fellowship in Santa Monica California, and a Masters in Strategic Studies.
He deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan with the 30th Medical Command as the Theater Pharmacy Consultant.
His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (6 OLCs), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, and the NATO Medal. He was awarded the AMEDD “9A” proficiency designator and is a recipient of the Order of Military Medical Merit. COL Sheikh is a graduate of the AMEDD Officer's Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Intermediate Level Education and the Army War College.
He has completed the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course resulting in the 8S ASI and the Defense Strategy Course leading to the 6Z (Strategist) ASI.
COL Sheikh, his wife and three daughters reside in Falls Church, VA.
