LCDR Adam Loyson is a U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) board certified ambulatory care pharmacist (BCACP) and Health Technology Specialist at Federal Bureau of Prison's (BOP) Central Office headquarters. In 2010, he obtained his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in chemical engineering and completed a doctorate of pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan in 2014. LCDR Loyson began his federal pharmacy career with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Georgia as a Health Scientist-Regulatory Affairs Specialist providing guidance on the use of medical countermeasures in public health emergencies. In 2016, he transitioned to BOP as a staff pharmacist at Federal Correctional Complex Coleman in Florida and commissioned into USPHS in 2017. He was then selected as a clinical pharmacist at Federal Medical Center Fort Worth in Texas in 2019, then transferred to Metropolitan Correctional Center San Diego in California as Chief Pharmacist in 2020, and began his current position in 2022. As a Health Technology Specialist, LCDR Loyson utilizes his computer programming skills and data analytics knowledge from his current master's degree program in computer science to design and maintain >30 web-based healthcare informational dashboards describing patient care and health operations of BOP's 121 correctional facilities and leads the Bureau's educational training initiative on their use by clinicians and health workers.
LCDR Loyson is also the U.S. Public Health Service Pharmacy Professional Advisory Committee's American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Liaison since 2021, coordinating with federal pharmacists to host continuing education programming at APhA national conferences.
