CAPT Chandima (Chad) Deegala has served in the United States Public Health Service and within the Indian Health Service for over 18 years. He serves as a health educator in the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Department at the Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC) hospital in Shiprock, NM. For the past 10 years, he has worked in primary care as a pharmacist practitioner and is part of the hospital’s medical staff.
CAPT Deegala is faculty-certified by the American Pharmacists Association to educate pharmacists and other allied health professionals on pharmaceutical care in diabetes and smoking cessation. He is also a certified faculty trainer on Motivational Interviewing, a tool for clinicians to assist patients in making self-directed health decisions. As part of this, he has conducted training for medical providers, clinical pharmacists, and other allied health professionals at a local, area, and national level.
CAPT Deegala has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) with a minor in Microbiology from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.
