Pamela Belperio, PharmD, BCPS, AAHIVP is the National Public Health Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and Deputy Director for Health Solutions with the VA Office of Patient Care Services, Population Health Program. In her role, Dr. Belperio works with VA leaders and providers across the country and is responsible for provider education, patient safety and quality of care initiatives relating to target Public Health conditions including HIV, PrEP, hepatitis, and immunizations, including COVID-19 vaccination. She is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of tools and materials to empower VHA clinicians to optimally manage veterans with these conditions and evaluate outcomes. Dr. Belperio has expertise in outcomes tracking and extensive knowledge of patient care registries and electronic databases. She is currently the clinical business lead for VA’s enterprise-wide project of establishing electronic connections between VA and the State Immunization Registries. Her research contributions have focused on real-world outcomes in diverse and difficult to treat populations and she currently serves as a Panel member for the NIH Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Treatment Guidelines. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Illinois and completed a residency with emphasis in HIV and infectious diseases at the University of Maryland Medical System. Dr. Belperio is based at the VA Greater Los Angeles where she maintains a clinical practice in HIV PrEP and HCV.
