Staff Sergeant LaDenna Ruiz is a Pharmacy Technician Instructor for the Defense Health Agency’s Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) located on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. METC I sone of the Department of Defense’s largest allied healthcare campus entrusted with training the world’s finest enlisted medical professionals. SSG Ruiz provides instruction for a 21-week long program which includes 618-hours of rigorous didactic and laboratory work and over 200-hour clinical pharmacy operations rotations for 246 students annually.
Prior to arriving at METC, SSG Ruiz served as the Pharmacy NCOIC, at the 147th Field Hospital at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. SSG Ruiz entered the Army in December of 2008. She graduated from the Pharmacy Technician Program, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, in September 2009. Her background includes various duties in pharmacy which include Outpatient, Inpatient, Infusion, Supply and Vault Custodian. Her assignments include bases in Fort Carson, Korea, Fort Drum, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and Texas. SSG Ruiz has a diverse deployment experience supporting Operation SPARTAN SHIELD and multiple COVID response missions.
