LCDR Marleen Tran earned her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a master’s certificate in project management from Duke University. Her commitment to excellence is highlighted by her two pharmacy board certifications in Geriatrics and Sterile Compounding, and a certification in Project Management Professional. Currently serving as a program analyst in the Human Capital Division of the Administration and Management Directorate at the Defense Health Agency, Department of Defense (DoD), LCDR Tran undertakes the role of a liaison connecting DoD and USPHS. Her previous assignment was at the U.S. Food and Administration (FDA), as a Health Science Project Manager in CDER Office of Compliance, managing regulatory meetings and providing guidance, including regulatory requirements under 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 210 – 212, and enforcement actions to non-compliant pharmaceutical firms world-wide. Her first duty station, as a Commissioned Corps Officer, was at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the Clinical Center, Department of Pharmacy where she diligently acquired expertise in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) chapter 797 and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP). Prior to her commission, she was a pharmacy manager at a Giant retail pharmacy store. LCDR Tran also worked as an outpatient pharmacist, pharmacy supervisor and had served several tours as the Acting-Chief for the Pharmacy Department at Andrew Rader U.S. Army Health Clinic. To balance a demanding career with personal interests, she enjoys a variety of hobbies like travel, gourmet, and crochet.
With a solid educational background and a wealth of experience, LCDR has made significant contributions to the field of pharmacy and healthcare management. She looks forward to advancing the pharmacy profession and continuing to make meaningful contributions to the USPHS and the nation.
