LCDR Whitehead received a PharmD from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2010. He has worked in a variety of pharmacy settings including: Retail pharmacy, staff pharmacist with Indian Health Service (IHS), Chief Pharmacist with IHS, clinical pharmacist with the Bureau of Prisons (BOP), and most recently as a national pharmacovigilance coordinator within the National Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for IHS. He has also secured additional certifications over his career, including becoming a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2014, Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management in 2021, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist in 2021, and National Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in 2021. Notable accomplishments across his career include: Revenue enhancement and staffing increases during his time as Chief Pharmacist, implementing new clinical pharmacy programs during his time with the Bureau of Prisons, and developing and piloting a national formulary management project in his current position.
