Erica Billiter is a Health System Specialist for Pharmacy Benefits Management Clinical Informatics (PBM CI) and former pharmacy technician with over 17 years of experience. She has worked in many areas of pharmacy including retail, outpatient, and inpatient pharmacy automation.
She started her pharmacy career in 2002 as a technician for Sam’s Club in Wilmington, NC. In 2005, she graduated from Cape Fear Community College with a Diploma in Pharmacy Technology and was certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) shortly after. In 2006, she moved to
Buffalo, NY to attend SUNY Buffalo, continuing to work as a technician for Sam’s Club and Walmart.
In 2009, Erica moved to Iowa City, IA and accepted an Outpatient Pharmacy Technician position at the Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS).
When an Automation Technician position became available in 2010, the opportunity to explore a new area of pharmacy was intriguing to her and
she jumped at the chance.
In 2011, Erica joined the National VHA Pharmacy Technician Workgroup under PBM CI, eventually going on to Co-Lead the group with Zita Schmitt, CPhT.
The group worked together with PBM CI support to coordinate monthly presentations to the pharmacy technician field.
Erica remained in the Automation/Omnicell System Administrator role until leaving Pharmacy service in 2019.
In 2019, Erica transitioned to Logistics service as the Administrative Officer, and then in 2020 to the Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist for Non-expendable equipment. She stayed in that position until December of 2022 when she joined PBM CI within the Business Policies and Operations team.
