Telepharmacogenomics National Program Manager
Veterans Health Administration
Durham, North Carolina
Dr. Shawn Dalton, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, BCPP, VHA-CM graduated from the University of Wyoming with his PharmD degree and completed PGY1 and PGY2 residencies with the VA. He held several positions within the VA (Associate Professor, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Associate Chief of Clinical Programs), though most of the ten years of clinical experience were focused in veterans with complex co-occuring mental health, substance use, and chronic pain diagnosis. Directly observing low rates of medication effectiveness, high side effect burden, polypharmacy, and sub-optimal clinical outcomes from a generalized medication focused approach led him to explore and integrate whole health, precision, and personalized medicine with the goal of increasing positive treatment outcomes for veterans through a more holistic and comprehensive care planning process. This focus in precision and personalized medicine led him to his current role, National Program Manager for TelePharmacogenomics within the Veterans Affairs National Pharmacogenomic Program where he actively works with a team of professionals to create, expand, and integrate pharmacogenomics across all of VA.
