Participants will review guidelines for the management of hyperlipidemia for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk reduction. We will discuss statins as a drug class and their intensities. Attendees will learn of novel therapies for the management of LDL cholesterol. Finally, we will apply evidence-based literature discuss when newer non-statin therapies should be added to statins.

Learning Objectives:

Describe non-statin cholesterol-lowering agents and their role in lipid management
Given a patient case, construct a therapy plan for lipid management
Interpret primary literature on the role of non-statin cholesterol-lowering agents
Discuss clinical practice guidelines for dyslipidemia
Identify patient populations who may benefit from intensive ASCVD risk reduction
Describe novel agents in lipid lowering therapy
