Assisting patients with self-directed health decisions. Managing chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes challenges patients and clinicians. Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based, collaborative, guided approach to health behavior change that can help confront these challenges. It is centered on partnering with patients to encourage and support behavior change. This session will provide an overview of what a Motivational Interview is, along with some tools and techniques which can be used to assist patients with behavior change.
